First of all, let me apologize because it has been weeks—almost one month—since my last post, life just got a little busy with the last weeks of the semesters and finals. All of that is over now, and I am proud to say that I got a 4.00 GPA. Anyhow, I am back, and I’ll take advantage of winter break to prepare, write and post more of the amazing content. Let me know in the comments below what is your favorite content so that I can fill 2019 with more things you’ll love.
For this week I decided to answer some personal questions for you to get to know me better. I got the questions from “40 Deep Questions to Ask If You Really Want to Get To Know Someone” posted by The Mind’s Journal. Hopefully, these questions aren’t that personal, so let’s get to it.
What’s your philosophy in life?
I live by the rule of “love and learn,” what I mean by this is allow yourself to be moved by love and learning. Love those around you, especially those who are harder to love, and be so curious about the world that surrounds you that you never stop learning new things. These are by no means easy tasks—mostly the loving others part—I often find myself failing at them, but if there one thing we can change in the world, it is who we are.
What’s the one thing you would like to change about yourself?
I would like to look at the glass half full, rather than half empty. I constantly focus on the negative aspects of life, when there are amazing things happening to me and those I love. I am working on it but sometimes it gets hard.
Are you religious or spiritual?
I am religious, I am a Roman Catholic.
Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert and you can read all about it on my previous post Am I an Introvert?
Which parent are you closer to and why?
My mom, because she most likely to be home during the day rather than my dad.
What was the best phase in your life?
I’ll say right now, because I am doing things I love, and I am discovering who I am and what makes me happy.
What was the worst phase in your life?
This one is a hard one because I haven’t had any phases in life where I had undeniable suffering, but I guess the phase that I least enjoyed was living in Spain. While there is nothing wrong with the university I went to or the people I met, I didn’t feel a dying passion for what I was doing so my life wasn’t fulfilled and there were times when I felt empty.
Is what you’re doing now what you always wanted to do growing up?
Growing up I always wanted to be two things: a doctor and an artist. So yes, I am doing what I grew up wanting to be (an artist) and it feels like I was meant to be it.
What makes you feel accomplished?
Right now, I am working on two main goals which are being happy and being an artist. Anything that moves me towards those goals makes me feel accomplished, and that can go from feeding Edd to writing a novel. Some concrete examples are making my bed every morning and continuing with my 365 days of gratitude challenge on Instagram (go check it out).
What’s your favorite book/movie of all time and why did it speak to you so much?
My favorite movie is the Grinch because you can see how loving someone or mistreating them can change who they are and how they view the world. So, I have always thought the Grinch did a great job at showing the importance of love in a way that is simple for everyone to understand, especially the newer version!
What is a relationship deal breaker for you?
Not wanting a family. I would say not wanting marriage/kids is my only deal breaker.
Are you more into looks or brains?
Who says we can’t have both?
Would you ever take back someone who cheated?
I have always believed on second chances, so I guess the answer would be yes, but I think that it would depend on the circumstances.
How do you feel about sharing your password with your partner?
BJ has never asked for any passwords, but I really wouldn’t care if he knew them, I really don’t keep secrets from him.
When do you think a person is ready for marriage?
It depends on each person and their life experience.
What kind of parent do you think you will be?
I think I’ll be the kind of mother that is always wanting to hug and kiss her kids. I’ll find it hard not to spoil them.
What would you do if your parents didn’t like your partner?
I would ask them why because if they don’t like him/disapprove of him, they probably have a good reason for it.
Who is that one person you can talk to about just anything?
Do you usually stay friends with your exes?
Have you ever lost someone close to you?
Last year I lost a friend through suicide.
If you are in a bad mood, do you prefer to be left alone or have someone to cheer you up?
When I am in a bad mood I like to be in a quiet place, so I don’t care if there is other people there as long as everyone is being quiet.
What’s the ideal weekend for you?
Finishing school work and writing before noon so that I can relax and spend time with BJ in the afternoon without having to worry about those things.
What do you think of best friends of the opposite sex?
I guess I have no opinion about it, my best friend is a pretty handsome boy by the name of BJ. I don’t see anything wrong with it but then again BJ is also my boyfriend, so I really don’t know. I guess it just depends on you and your best friend.
Do you judge a book by its cover?
Yes, I love going to book stores and buying books I have never heard of just based on their cover.
Are you confrontational?
I think everything can be solved through words and it is better to talk about something at the beginning rather than wait for it to become a huge problem, but I also think that you have to choose your battles because somethings just aren’t worth your anger.
When was the last time you broke someone’s heart?
I don’t know, I haven’t intentionally hurt anyone, and I hope I haven’t broken anyone’s heart lately.
Would you relocate for love?
Did you ever write a journal?
Yes, and I still do.
What are you most thankful for?
Do you believe in second chances?
Yes, but people have to earn it and ask for it.
What’s the one thing that people always misunderstand about you?
A lot of people think I am shy.
What is your idea of a perfect vacation?
Somewhere to relax, I don’t like big cities or having to walk around too much.
What did your past relationship teach you?
Don’t lose who you are to gain someone else’s approval/love.
What are your thoughts on online dating or Tinder?
BJ and I met online, so in my opinion (and experience) it can work and become something amazing, but like any other relationship, it takes the commitment of both of you.
What’s on your bucket list this year?
For 2018, since it is about to end, there are a couple of books I am really wanting to read. But for 2019, finishing school is on my bucket list.
When have you felt your biggest adrenaline rush?
The moment I got the call when I was told I was accepted to St Ambrose University. I don’t remember how the conversation went, I just remember feeling extremely nervous.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done, and would you do it again?
Dropping out of nursing school and yes, I would it again.
If a genie granted you 3 wishes right now, what would you wish for?
I would wish for less distance between Guatemala and Iowa, I would wish for more love to be spread around, and I would wish for more happiness.
What’s your biggest regret in life?
Waiting so long to be myself.
What do you think about when you’re by yourself?
Mostly about BJ, but every once in a while, I have some pretty smart thoughts.
