We Are

Hello wonderful human beings, today I decided to be a little more creative and share with you a series of poems I wrote. Let me know in the comments below if this is something you would like to see more of because I have a lot of creative writing to share with you.

I wrote a series of four poems with the purpose of representing the way in which, us humans, are not only individual beings but also a piece of something bigger. Each poem explores a different aspect of nature–human and otherwise, as part of the essence of what the world is as a whole. 

The first poem “We Are Ephemeral” talks about the temporary nature of everything. Nothing is eternal, even somethings date from before us and at some point, seemed like they would never cease to exist, they do as well as do, end.  

The second poem “We are Social” talks about our desire to connect and our inevitable coexistence with things and people outside ourselves. Even things in nature need each other and exist for the purpose of maintaining each other. 

The third poem “We Are Movement” talks about how things in this world don’t stay still. From the earth rotating to breathing, everything is always moving. Movement refers to physical motion but also change, evolution, and even the fulfilment of our potential. Movement means living, it means existing in a way that alters our surrounding, even if we only push air when we raise our hand. 

The last poem “We Are Life” talks about more than just being alive. It is about creating life. About how maybe our bodies are temporary, but our souls are part of something bigger, something that gets passed down, like an heirloom, to be a new part of nature. Maybe we exist past our death in the things we leave behind but also in the way in which our soul continues its journey without our bodies.

Oxygen

Breeze. 

Years

Birthdays 

Growth. 

Actions 

Decisions 

Memories. 

We die.

Poem #2: We Are Social 

Everything is connected.

Constellations

Star dust 

Energy. 

Relationships 

Hands held

Love.

Events 

Communities 

Friends. 

We coexist.

Everything is moving.

Oceans

Water

Waves.

Goals

Failures 

Lessons learned. 

Migrations 

Journeys

Change. 

We evolve.

Poem #4: We Are Life

Nothing ends.

Land

Seeds

Growth. 

Nutrients 

Vegetables

Food. 

Death 

Ashes 

Phoenixes.

We live.
